How to copy text from a screenshot

A screenshot is usually a dead end: the text is just pixels. PageSnap keeps the real text of the page, and reads pictures with OCR when it has to.

Copy text from a captured web page

  1. Capture the page with PageSnap.
  2. Open Extract and choose Select & copy text, then drag over the words you want. Or choose Copy all text.

Because the text comes from the page itself, it is exact, including Arabic and other right-to-left languages.

Read text inside pictures and scans (OCR)

Choose Read text from images (OCR). PageSnap recognises English and Arabic text in pictures, screenshots of apps and scanned PDFs, then lets you select and copy it. Recognition runs on your computer, so private documents stay private.

Send it to Word or Excel

  • Export to Word (.docx) puts the page text and pictures into a Word document.
  • Tables to Excel (.xlsx) turns real HTML tables into spreadsheet cells.

Tips for better OCR

  • Use the largest, sharpest source you can.
  • Very stylised fonts and low-resolution images can still produce mistakes, so proofread important text.
